First of Many!
Hello Everyone,
I am going to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself in the first blog ever written by myself. Over the next few months of blogs, I am going to cover several topics including, digital vs acoustic drums, new gear coming out that I think is important for you to know about, and just some simple steps to help you when renting sound and light equipment from Pro Sound & Lightng. Lets get started!
I have been at PS&L for 11+ years. I moved to Portland from St. Louis, MO in mid-April 2001 and started at PS&L, May 1, 2001. I am the drummer in Sarah Moon & The Night Sky, which keeps me out of trouble when I am not at the shop. Through the years I have had the opportunity to work next to some fantastic people, as well as, with some of the best bands in the world. All in all, not a bad way to spend my day and the best part is, they pay me. It would be tough to ask for anything more.
Now for the gear talk. Over the years I have watched how LED’s are making light bulbs go away, digital audio consoles are replacing analog consoles along with racks full of outboard gear. But lets not forget Class D amplifiers, our backs thank you. Gone are the days where it took two maybe three people to push and amp rack full of those good’ol heavy Class AB amps up a truck ramp just to have 6000W of power. Now with amps such as the Crown I Tech 4X3500 giving you 4 channels with 2000W of power per channel at 4ohms, all in two rack spaces and only 29lbs. That’s crazy, and unfortunate it was not around 18 years earlier. Anyway, check back soon for the latest and greatest here at PS&L.
